VICTORIAN two-year-old Gold Busker could not have made a more impressive debut in winning the Tasmanian Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1220 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight (Wednesday).
Gold Busker travelled to Tasmania with a small team from the Mark Riley stable about two weeks ago so he was able to settle in before facing the starter for the first time.
Riley’s assistant trainer Logan McGill a former jockey, was given Gold Busker to train and he became his first feature race winner.
Our Cheerio with Atalanta Miss hanging on for third.
Gold Busker was ridden by Jarrod Todd who was a replacement rider for Stephen Baster who had to forego the ride as his wife went into hospital to deliver their first child.
Todd allowed Gold Busker to go forward early and lad with he well backed favourite Atalanta Miss riding shotgun in the breeze.
When Todd called on his charge to extend he quickly put two lengths on his rivals and went on to score comfortably from local first starter Our Cheerio with Atalanta Miss third.
