LUCK can often play a part in a feature race win and such was the case for the Rod Ransley-trained Good Question in the J. G nelson Cup Division 2 final over 515 metres in Launceston on Monday night.
In an open betting event Alonnah (1) was sent around the popular elect but she suffered a check in the back stretch and the well backed Red Nitro missed the start and was last at the first turn.
Roxy Rhythm led the field into the back stretch with Despicable Matt hot on her heels while Good Question was bowling along on third spot but six lengths off the leader.
But when Despicable Matt got onto the heels of Roxy Rhythm, she fell and he dropped back sharply.
Good Question missed the interference and sped clear and had enough in reserve to hold out Mason Pines that flashed home late.
The Rod Ransley-trained dog was having only his ninth start in Tasmania and this was his fourth win.
