Heats of the Greyhound Owners Trainers Breeders Association Tasmania (G.O.T.B.A.T) series dominate the nine-race program in Hobart on Thursday.
The series is split into three divisions with a mixed 1/2/3 comprising division one, a mixed 4/5 division two, while division three is for grade 6 greyhounds but with a lack of nominations received for the heats, that series will go straight into a final next Thursday night.
Seven of the nine races on Thursday night are G.O.T.B.A.T heats, the only two exceptions being the first and last races of the program.
There are some quality greyhounds engaged throughout the night including recent Ladbrokes Illingworth Classic favourite, Quick Joey Small, who is in the second of the division 2 heats (race 3).
The David Crosswell-trained black dog was unable to overcome his wide box draw in the $16,005 to-the-winner Illingworth Classic on 26 April but caught the eye flashing home late to finish third after being sent out the $2.80 popular elect.
From the prolific Aston Dee Bee – She’s All Class litter, Quick Joey Small is the winner of nine races from 32 starts but is yet to taste success in the south of the state, her record around the Hobart circuit consists of only two placings from five career starts.
Despite the moderate Hobart record, bookmakers have installed Quick Joey Small a $1.70 favourite on race morning who will jump from the blue box in the 461m event.

The two division one heats have attracted some of the state’s best performed greyhounds with the headline act being Wynburn Sheean who will jump from box 6 in the first heat (race 7).
The Group 3 Ladbrokes Devonport Chase and Group 2 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup winner is in the midst of a baron run by his exceptional standards, the winner at 18 of his 25 starts hasn’t tasted victory in his last three outings, the last two in Tasmania after returning from an unsuccessful Shepparton Cup campaign in March.
Bookmakers expect the Ben Englund-trained superstar to bounce back on Thursday night, making Wynburn Sheean a dominant $1.40 favourite, ahead of Green Machine (box 7) and Amy Cora (box 3) as the only other two dogs in single figures.
Attracting substantial interest in the second heat is Eric Haladane-trained Rio Valiente (box 5) who has won his last two starts by a combined 15.75 lengths.
The win of the Zambora Brockie – Mercedes Lass dog in a quality invitation race in Hobart last Thursday night was enough to see him rated a $1.65 chance despite the potentially awkward box draw.
