The Big Moose Laurels highlight a strong card of racing at Tattersall’s Park tonight.
In the first heat (R3) Howzat Grace for Neville Allison is still maturing but given any luck early will be too strong at the finish. Young Star Classic winner Get It Right for Ted Medhurst and Robert Gourlay’s Izon Destruction should qualify for the Final.
The second heat (R4) will match the Ladies Bracelet winner Ireland’s Force against the Puppy Championship winner Soul Sister in what should be a safe quinella option. Both bitches are racing well but anyone who saw Ireland’s Force run on Monday Night would be quietly confident of victory here. Lake Hylia has good habits and should make the Final along with Sweet Izzy who hasn’t raced since May.
Cosmic Fire (R2) for Rosevale trainer Sonia Martin is a very reliable performer on all tracks and tonight at Elwick will relish the 599m trip and the wide draw. Having won two over the sprint here this son of Cosmic Rumble has already won over the middle distance at Launceston and Devonport and he should enjoy a troublefree run from seven. Blue Tam is in a purple patch of form and will be his main opposition while It’s Crunchtime and Miss Somebody should make up the multiples.
That Was Then (R6) is a super honest chaser with good manners and at the value may upset the likely favourite Kool Puppy from this alley. Trained by Gayelene Townsend this daughter of Cosmic Chief had no luck in the Ladies Bracelet final Monday night but is very strong up the Hobart straight. Apart from Kool Puppy, Daniel’s Bay looks next best.
Kirkby Lodge (R5) for Dilston trainer Patrick Ryan was so impressive last week that he only has to begin like that to go close again.
