A colt by Dissident offered by Grenville Stud has sold for $66,000 to Queensland trainer Kelly Schweida at today’s Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Launceston.
Before a packed gallery at the Inveresk Sales Complex, the striking colt encouraged spirited bidding until Schweida lodged the winning bid.
As Lot 13, the colt had an impressive page and buyers responded, with an opening bid of $20,000 rapidly progressing to $50,000 before it turned into a battle of two bidders.
After 26 lots had passed through the ring, the top-priced was a colt by Dream Ahead from the Al Maher mare Luloah (Lot 26) that sold for $75,000.
The overall sale prices were up on average from last year but with a long way to go until the final lot (146).
