WELL-BRED pup Grouse won the Easter Purse final for juveniles at UBET Park Hobart last night to take his record to four wins from five starts.
Grouse (Premier Fantasy-Ella Bonita) won his Easter Purse heat a week earlier after which his trainer Russell Watts took the dog to Launceston last Monday night where he delivered another outstanding performance to win a juvenile event over 515 metres.
He looks a very promising prospect with his time of 26.15 over the 461-metre trip confirmation that he has a bright future.
Grouse missed the start slightly from box two while Quiet Bay flew the lids to lead comfortably but by the time they reached the home turn Grouse was in front and chasing hard.
The Patrick Ryan-trained dog Patty Thrills loomed to win in the home straight but his effort was in vain as Grouse powered home to win comfortably from Patty Thrills while outsider Bobby Bound who ran home well to finish third in advance of Tah Jen.
