QUALITY sprinter Hellova Street should only need to replicate the form that took him to victory in the Listed Newmarket handicap just over two weeks ago to emerge triumphant in the Winzenberg Trophy at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
Hellova Street has had two starts this preparation for as many wins with his first-up victory in a benchmark 82 handicap over 1000 metres in Hobart at the end of October one of the most impressive in the horse’s career.
Today he meets a strong field that includes star mare Arenzano ($6.50), Goodwood handicap winner Snippetee Bee ($8.50), class sprinter Grand Tycoon (%6) and up and coming star Minute Repeater ($4.80).
But punters have already delivered a vote of confidence in Hellova Street by taking the $1.80 offered by fixed odds bookies late yesterday.
Hellova Street has drawn ideally in barrier one from where jockey David Pires should be able to dictate terms.
Although he doesn’t need to get involved in a speed battle and would no doubt take a sit if either Arenzano or Snippetee Bee’s riders pushed hard for the front.
Today’s nine-race card will be broadcast on Sky 1 and Sky World with Pete Staples providing a live host for Sky Channel that will produce mounting yard reports, Simon Stout’s “Best from the Yard” and pre and post-race interviews with trainers and jockeys throughout the day.
The first race is scheduled to start at 2.11 pm and the last at 7.07.
