HEY FRANKLIN confirmed his status as one of Tasmania’s most promising young greyhounds when he powered his way to an impressive win in the Easter Purse final over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last night.
Hey Franklin was only fairly away from box five and encountered interference nearing the top turn while the well backed Winklea Zipper ($4.20) and Danger Duck ($6) emerged from the pack to lead the field into the home turn.
But Hey Franklin ($1.80 out to $2.40) managed to weave his way through the field and barged his way to the lead along the rails in the home straight.
The Ted Medhurst-trained pup went on to score by about two lengths from Winklea Zipper with Danger Duck hanging on for third ahead of outsider Flashing Shadow.
It was Hey Franklin’s fourth win in succession giving him that many wins from only five starts.
“He is a promising pup and he can’t do more than what he’s doing to win his races,” Medhurst said.
