THE Betfair Gold Cup Final is the highlight on a strong ten event card at Tattersall’s Park on Thursday night.
Dual Track Record Holder Damek smashed his own Hobart record last week to stop the clock at 25.79 and is a quoted at the prohibitive prepost price of $1.10 to keep his unbeaten record on the Hobart circuit intact.
His record on the track has now reached double figures and his blistering speed should see him score again although it is a quality field and he will need to do everything right early to salute.
Regal Love impressed last week at his only start in Tasmania jumping fast to lead all the way while Fisherman and Eagle Eye both won comfortably after leading.
Damek’s first section however was lengths better than his rivals so only bad luck at the jump can stop this topliner.
The Invitation (R8) appears hard for punters to sort out in fact the despised prepost outsiders Samurai Kid, Cradoc Park and Perfect Socks are all capable of winning this race and should be taken in the multiples.
Showtime at his best would win however he has been mixing his form lately while NSW visitor Excel Like Time got into trouble last start and will take a power of beating if right.
Prepost favourite Monster Prince is very strong but Hobart is not his best track.
Octane Assassin (R5) for Tea Tree trainer Gary Greig appears to have his rivals covered, while Hellyeah Jacko (R7) looks value each way.
Best Bets: R5 No 1 Octane Assassin R6 No 4 Damek, R10 No 6 Galtee Again.
Best E/W: R1 No 7 So Spiral, R2 No 6 Lenny James, R8 No 8 Perfect Socks.
