LIGHTLY raced three-year-old colt Hot To Trot confirmed his status as one of the state’s rising stars when he accounted for a handy field of class one performers on the synthetic surface at SpreytonPark in Devonport on Monday.

Hot To Trot (Trotamondo-Miss Schumann) treated his rivals with contempt over the 1350-metre trip.

With experienced rider David Pires aboard the colt gathered in the leaders at the top of the home straight and went on to score by 1-3/4 lengths from first-starter Red Eagle with Royal Knave a length away third.

Hot To Trot broke his maiden status at his previous outing in Hobart and while that was also an effortless win this latest performance was clearly his best.

The colt is prepared by Charlie Goggin and Luella Meaburn at Runnymede and is owned by a Prime Thoroughbreds syndicate managed by Joe O’Neill.

Hot To Trot’s half-sister Another Concerto (x Snippetson) has won four and an older half-brother I Am Magic (x Magic Albert) won a 2YO race and was placed in a Listed 2YO race at two in Tasmania before being sold to the Northern Territory where he has won five at Fannie Bay and one at Alice Springs and been placed eight times from 18 starts in the region. He also won at Morphetville in SA.

Hot To Trot has raced only seven times for two wins but the way he is tackling his races of late he is a great chance to make it a hat trick of wins at his next outing.
