Well bred three-year-old filly Iggimacool could have a bright future if her win at only her second start at Spreyton today as a true indication of her ability.
Her margin over Geegees Pretty Jess was only narrow but it was the way the Bill Ryan-trained filly went about winning the race that impressed most.
Iggimacool settled at the rear of the five-horse field while stablemates Lost My Patience and Sid The Sloth set a solid pace in sharing the lead with the well-backed Geegees Pretty Jess settled third outside of Ne Vision.
When Geegees Pretty Jess improved at the 500m to make her challenge, McCoull got his charge moving forward and the four turned for home in a line.
Iggimacool gained a gap and set sail after Geegees Pretty Jess and it was McCoull’s vigor that ensured Ryan’s filly gained the judge’s nod.
It was a good start to the program for McCoull who was the $3 favourite to win the jockey’s challenge.
