AT the start of the season Spreyton-based trainer Barry Campbell had high hopes for his two-year-old filly Immortal Charm but a virus deprived her from being aimed at all of the feature juvenile races.

Campbell has been patient with the daughter of Exceed and Excel and in Launceston tonight she makes her long awaited return to racing.

Immortal Charm will line up in race four, a 2YO maiden over 1100 metres, in which there are multiple first-starters and not many with worthwhile exposed form.

Given Campbell expected Immortal Charm to be dominant in feature 2YO races before she took ill, it stands to reason that he still expects her to realise the potential she showed prior to making her debut in the Debutante Plate in Hobart in mid-November.

Tonight she has to contend with a wide barrier (10) but others with decent exposed form also have drawn poorly including I Love This Bar (9) and Top Draw (12).

Gee Gees Rusty resumed with a handy second to Gee Gee Spitfire in Hobart last month so he is likely to open favourite as he has drawn a decent gate (7) and has the services of Brendon McCoull.
