AFTER scoring an impressive win in Launceston last week in a heat of the Australian Driving Championships with Queensland’s Grant Dixon aboard, five-year-old gelding Olivers Mate needs only to replicate that effort to win again at the UBET Racing Centre tonight.
Olivers Mate delivered the goods in style last week in a CO race over 2090 metres and tonight he meets the same class as last week’s race was penalty free given it was a part of the ADC.
Tonight he will be driven by Rohan Hadley who should be able to make full use of barrier four to either lead or face the breeze but whatever happens I the first 200 metres he gelding should make his presence felt at the business end of proceedings.
Parwill had good form when last in work and he looms as a first-up chance for his new stable (Brent Parish).
Freelander has drawn the outside of the front row (7) but he must rate a chance as he improved last start to finish second at Burnie and that followed an eye-catching fourth behind Fowsands in Launceston last Sunday week.
The feature race on the 10-event card tonight is the Doug Martin Danbury Park Cup (race 5) in which Riverboat Jasper and Outback Mach are likely to vie for favouritism.
