Industry loses stalwart

TASMANIAN greyhound racing lost one of its staunchest supporters last week with the passing of Noel Butters.

Butters held the position as secretary/manager of the Hobart Greyhound Racing Club for many years as well as being a long-serving committee member of the club.

In his heyday Butters was considered one of the state’s best trainers and in his latter years he was the ear-marking steward in the south of the state.

Noel passed away peacefully and he will be remembered as one of the true gentlemen of the greyhound racing industry.
