“She was a terrific jockey and an outstanding horse woman and just a terrific lady.”

Queensland and Australian riders will today acknowledge their fallen colleague.

Tasmanian and Australian Jockeys Association representative Kevin Ring paid tribute to Pye.

“Carly-Mae represents the face of many of Australian Jockeys, hard working, widely travelled, dedicated and committed to a difficult, dangerous and challenging job,” Ring said.

“She rode several hundred winners including making her presence felt when she ventured to the Metropolitan area.”

“All Australian riders convey their deepest sympathy to Carly-Mae’s partner Tim Cook, her family and friends at this very sad time.” He said.
