THE Tasmanian Pacing Club will officially launch its Tasmania Cup meeting on Sunday (November 28).
The club expects all forms of media to attend the launch at “Rosedale Stud”, Campania, which is the home of the Ambassador of the Tasmania Cup – Marten the Magnificent.
Marten resides at Rosedale Stud and is one of many stallions that form part of the Rosedale experience.
The launch will be hosted by the Minister for Racing Bryan Green and he will introduce Marten to all who attend.
“This is not your ordinary run of the mill launch of a big race meeting,” said the club’s CEO John Devereux.
“It will be a full dress rehearsal of the sensational show that Marten and his friends the “Gypsy cobs, mini mules and donkeys” will put on at our meeting on December 5 at Tattersall’s Park.
Marten also will lead the field out for the Group 1 $100,000 Tasmania Cup on December 26 in Hobart.
Devereux said aligning the club’s premier race with a non standardbred stud is innovative.
“Rosedale Stud is not just a run of the mill stud. It is a world standard facility that is also a top class educational facility as well as a stud farm.”
“They provide education for young people on caring for animals particularly equine as well as provide horse riding lessons, trail rides and more,” he said.
The official launch is scheduled to start at 12.30pm followed by a barbeque lunch and some light refreshment (drinks) will be available for invited attendees.
