FORMER Victorian Crowie Lamar made a great impression on punters in Launceston on Monday night by running down super speedster Moorina
Crowie Lamar was having only his third start in the state but was coming off an equally impressive win in Hobart 11 days earlier.
The Mick Stringer-trained dog arrived in the state with only modest form that included a win in a weak maiden at Shepparton on March 1.
“The dog has come to hand quickly and given what he’s done at his past two starts I’d say he has a future here,” Stringer said.
At his first Tasmanian start he found all sorts of trouble in a juvenile in Hobart won by Mackie Slater.
But at his subsequent outing he drew seven and stayed wide to avoid trouble to the top turn and then burst clear and won by almost five lengths, clocking a reasonable 26.38sec over 461 metres.
