FOUR interstate Hobart Thousand aspirants trialled solo on the Tattersall’s Park circuit this morning (Monday) with one of Darren McDonald’s three entries Perfect Fancy clocking a sizzling 25.90 seconds over the 461-metre trip.
It was Perfect Fancy’s first look at the U-bend circuit and the blue dog appeared to relish the long run to the first turn. He produced splits of 5.11s and 11.11s.
His kennel mate Aston Lucas ran the trip in 26.30s with slower first and second splits but the lightly raced son of Hallucinate powered up the home straight.
Daintree Palace, prepared by Lauren Gorman, daughter of top Victorian mentor Peter Giles, stopped the clock at 26.09 with splits of 5.22s and 11.36s.
Recent Melbourne Cup placegetter Dee Winter, prepared by Ray Henness, produced a time of 26.19 with solid splits of 5.20s and 11,26s.
All dogs trialled from box three.
The eight heats of the Wrest Point Hobart Thousand will be run on Thursday night with the final on December 16.
