TALENTED two-year-old filly Volcanic Sky is likely to venture to Victoria in search of her next start after she scored an impressive first-up win at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today (Sunday).
Volcanic Sky (Nadeem-Fleur de L’orient) won on debut back in January but at her subsequent outing she jarred up and was forced to the spelling paddock.
She resumed being an unknown quantity on a heavy track and while she scored impressively by almost a length from Come Follow Me with Little River Girl three lengths astern her rider Jason Maskiell said she might not have been at her best in the soft ground.
It was Maskiell’s second meeting back riding after a 10-month stint on the sidelines and he said it was great to be back riding winners in Hobart.
Volcanic Sky’s trainer John Keys said he is contemplating taking the filly to Melbourne for possibly a mid-week fillies’ race before the season’s end so he only has two weeks to decide.
