TALENTED three-year-old filly Spinning Jenny returns to racing in Tasmania in Launceston tonight in the Ballymore Stables Class 2 Handicap (race 2) over 1400 metres.

Spinning Jenny notched an impressive win in Launceston two starts back after which trainer Brendan McShane put her to the test by taking her to Melbourne for a crack at a $120,000 Listed race over 1400 metres at Caulfield.

Dwayne Dunn rode her that day and she worked home well to finish fifth and just off the heels of the placegetters.

McShane said Dun admitted he may have made an error in judgment in regard to where he had the filly placed (on the rails three back the fence).

But tonight she drops back to a class two and while it is a hot field that includes the highly promising mare Saturn Shimmy that has won her past two impressively and a host of last-start winners, Spinning Jenny may have the edge on class factor.

Spinning Jenny also has drawn a nice gate (8) and will start from barrier six if the first two emergencies don’t gain a start and she has the services of in-form apprentice Bulent Muhcu who claims two kilograms that reduces the filly’s weight to 55 kg.

Muhcu rode four winners last Wednesday night and while he also was suspended for three meetings, which starts after tonight’s meeting, he will be hungry for winners knowing he will be out of the saddle for three meetings.

Saturn Shimmy could not have been more impressive in wining her past two and she will definitely be the testing material for McShane’s filly but top weight Fillout The Ticket also has been working up to another win with her past two efforts full of merit.

Keukenhof won well last start to signal his arrival as a horse that may have the potential to win through to top grade and Miss Eye Candy won three starts back and has since been very competitive in this class at her past two outings.

Add to the mix last-start winner Kentucky Tea, Geegees Red Rock, Wakefield and the lightly raced but very promising Volcanic Sky and we have the ingredients for a very competitive race.
