Heats of the Tasmanian Greyhound Owners Trainers and Breeder’s Association occupy most of the program at tonight’s eleven race card at Elwick.
With most of Tassie’s top greyhounds and a number of potential champions running it looks a terrific card for punter’s and greyhound enthusiasts alike.
Just as Fancy (R3) is a young pup with a bright future.
This son of Premier Fantasy has only had the one start in Tasmania for Westbury trainer John Shanahan when an easy winner at Devonport by ten lengths in a quick 25.72 beating Don’t Get Testy.
That greyhound subsequently led all the way at Launceston on Monday night so the form should stack up here. Currently quoted at $2.75 he really looks a solid chance.
His main opposition will come Marty Pines and Draft Pick. Franklin Bluboy (R5) should get back into the winner’s circle.
At his last start he showed his customary speed only to be rundown by Hollyheath in the shadows of the post and deserves a change of luck. Beaudine will start favourite and must be respected while Just Sioux Me and Black Jade are in rare form.
Speed Direct (R6) should make it five in a row in the first leg of the double and treble.
Best Bets: R3 No 3 Just As Fancy, R7 No 4 New Recruit, R9 No 1 Zorro’s Legacy.
Best E/W: R5 No 1 Franklin Bluboy, R8 No 7 Jethro, R10 No 8 Intense Suspense.
