Promising locally-bred chaser Just Rambling will be out to make it three wins on the spin when he lines up in the Follow Us On Instagram Grade 5 event over 340 metres on the 10-event program in Hobart on Monday night.
The Greg & Gary Fahey-owned My Bro Fabio dog has won eight races from 17 career starts. He certainly showed his raw talent with two impressive victories in Devonport and most recently in Launceston last week.
From box three two runs back in Devonport, Just Rambling devastated his rivals with a brilliant 25.30sec victory in beating Buckle Up Havana by 5-1/4 lengths and was which was by far his best run in his career so far.
Just Rambling then backed up in Launceston last Monday night, making his 515-metre debut, leading all the way to hold out Beep Test Baron to score a gusty victory in running 29.78sec from box 1.
“They are not the quickest litter I’ve had that come to hand,” trainer Gary Fahey explained of the Jouster litter.
“But time and patience, these pups have learnt what racing is about and Just Rambling has been most impressive.”
From box seven in the ninth event, Just Rambling faces what looks to be a race where luck will play a part.
“Just Rambling is a genuine railer and you can’t afford to do things wrong in these short races,” the trainer said.
“Though in saying that he has won from wide draws so he will need luck to go his way, but he should run a really good race.”
Form guides suggest Lucky Lyn (box 4) and Bridwood Bella (box 5) are considered the main dangers in the event.
The Mangalore-based kennel will also have litter mate My Bro Joe engaged earlier in the night.
Drawn box 2 in the Ladbrokes Cash In Grade 4 over 461 metres, My Bro Joe faces a strong field for his 16th career start on track, though like Just Rambling this black chaser is racing with the highest level of confidence.
My Bro Joe hasn’t put a paw wrong in his recent runs and his last start in Launceston last week behind the Blake Pursell-trained Bank Book, the powerhouse runner had tacked on finishing 4-3/4 lengths away from the winner.
“If you were to switch boxes and place My Bro Joe in a wide draw, I would be happier,” Fahey promptly declared.
“He is definitely a dog going places and he would need just an ounce of luck from the jump to help his chances.”
The Wayne Williams-trained It’s Fletch is the $2.15 favourite with Ladbrokes coming from box 8.
Last start Launceston Cup Consolation winner Hooked On Brenda looks well drawn in box 5 to upset kennel mate Fabulous Baroque in the Racing Again This Thursday Night Invitation event contested of the 461m journey.
Trainer Ted Medhurst prepares the two leading race fancies who both contested the recent Launceston Cup series, with Hooked On Brenda grabbing the minor silverware in what was one of her career best runs to date.
The Ben Pryse-owned daughter of Hooksy and Bambalam Bruce has won 16 races with nine minors from 34 starts.
Medhurst prepares four runners in the field with Mr. Camacho (box 3) and Stay Baroque (box 6) both at double figure odds.
Monday night’s Hobart greyhound meeting will commence at 19.30, with the entire 10-race program broadcasted on Sky Racing 1 and TasracingTV.
Racing returns to Hobart again this Thursday night.
