AN early race to race double gave Hobart based jockey Patrick Keane his first Tasmanian double yesterday at Devonport aboard Lady Imelda and Chiming.

Lady Imelda, trained by Hobart trainer Alec Harper, came from last to score her maiden victory after a good run at Launceston recently.

Rarely travelling far north, Harper was having his first runner at the new synthetic surface and his first at Spreyton since Desert Bird won in 1978.

Keane second leg of his double as four-year-old mare Chiming justified the $1.80 favouritism and won impressively by 4 lengths.

The daughter of Bel Esprit was having her second stint in the state after returning from a Victorian campaign with Greg Eurell and was the second leg of a winning double for team Brunton.
