Capetown Kid broke through for an overdue win when he proved too strong for his rivals in the Furniture City Gift final in Hobart last Thursday night.
Capetown Kid (Bond-Capetown Star) had notched seven minor placings from 14 starts before this last effort so it was a deserving win.
The Jillian Stamford-trained dog only scraped into the final courtesy of a fourth in a heat behind the final favourite Posh Emma that was expected to lead and win easily.
While Posh Emma began well from box two, Capetown Kid kept driving along the rails from his inside draw.
They were neck and neck to the home turn and when Posh Emma looked like forging clear Capetown Kid dug deep and went on to score by just under a length.
