The $16,005 Ladbrokes Illingworth Classic Final will take place in Launceston on Monday night.
This glamour event was first run at the White City Greyhound track in 1991. It was won by Swanky View, trained by Rodney Walker. Since then many winners have gone on to be respected names of greyhound racing, including Dilston Prince (1992), Bomber’s A Flyer (1996), Top Shiraz (1999), Elle’s Supremo (2000) and Damek (2010).
The L.G.R.C. introduced a new race to the Tasmanian calendar in 1991, the Illingworth Classic, for Tasbred greyhounds, which recognises the enormous input of Ollie and Des Illingworth.
