STAR Tasmanian owned and trainer mare Lady Lynette will aimed at Group 1 glory with three suitable top grade events earmarked for the mare over the next two months.

Lady Lynette has been unlucky at her past two starts being placed against top company, in particular last Saturday at Moonee Valley where she finished third behind King’s Rose but probably should have won with a clear run.

The David and Scott Brunton-trained mare is being set for the Group 1 $350,000 Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday week followed by the $350,000 Group 1 Toorak handicap over 1600 metres at Caulfield a fortnight later.

The mare’s grand final will be in the $500,000 Myer Classic at Flemington on VRC Derby Day (October 29) which is over 1600 metres and against her own sex.

Co-trainer Scott Brunton said Lady Lynette’s next outing was going to be in the JRA Cup at Moonee Valley on September 30 but that was until they decided to bite the bullet and target the Group 1 events and Scott Brunton’s reasoning is solid.

The mare that beat Lady Lynette last Saturday (king’s Rose) defeated the males in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield at her previous start.

Lady Lynette was second to champion mare Typhoon Tracy in the 2009 Myer Classic and according to Brunton his mare is travelling as well this time in as she was in that season.
