In Brief
- Lago Approach Blacker's best in Hobart.
- Costero has good trial form to suggest he can win first-up.
- Golden Egg was placed at Ballarat.
Trainer John Blacker takes a small team to Hobart on Sunday and while he considers them all value chances there is one that stands out.
He regards Lago Approach as one of the most promising two-year-olds he has trained and expects the gelded son of Delago Deluxe to break his maiden status in the Ladbrokes Backs Tasmanian Trainers 2YO Maiden over 1100 metres.
“I have liked Lago Approach from the minute he started work and if I’m right he could end up being the best horse in my stable,” Blacker said.
“He trialled really well and all he has to do is take that sort of form into Sunday’s race to be very had to beat.”
Blacker also will saddle up Costero in the opening race on the eight-event card.
“Costero won his trial well on his home track (Longford) defeating Sh’bourne Renegade and she came out and won last Sunday so that’s not bad form.”
Golden Egg is a former Victorian having her first start for Blacker and he is confident she will make her presence felt at the business end of her race.
“Golden Egg is new to the stable but she’s a nice three-year-old that has placed at Ballarat over 1000m, so she is well suited on Sunday.”
Silver Road has been campaigning in Victoria during the pandemic without success.
“We struggled to find the right races for Silver Road interstate, but this looks an ideal race for him (race 6).”
Blacker must wait until the last race for his final runner in Oh So Needy that has trialled well.
“This might be a bit short for Oh So Needy but she goes into the race in good order.”
