UNDERRATED apprentice John Lambie was rewarded for all of his hard work over the past year when he landed his first double on his home track at Spreyton Park in Devonport on Sunday.
Lambie is indentured to Leon Wells but both of his winners were for that trainer’s son Dean Wells.
Miss No Socks gave Lambie his first winner of the day and he snared his double aboard Redbougg with both horses owned and bred by Karl Thomas.
Miss No Socks came from just beyond midfield at the halfway mark to score full of running over first-starter Matsqui Maid and the well-backed Combien.
Redbougg was coming off a win in Hobart but had not been sighted for nine weeks.
The Tobougg four-year-old mare appreciated the firm track (dead 4) and while she usually free-wheels in front, then pace was so hot she settled midfield until Lambie let her loose 500m from home.
The mare gathered in the leaders 100m out and went on to score convincingly from Neika Belle and North Lad.
