Talented six-year-old mare Gee Gee Lanett has made winning the last race of the night in Launceston a habit of late and her trainer Stuart Gandy will be hoping for the same result this Wednesday night.
Gee Gee Lanett has won at her past two starts when lining up in the last race of the night and that’s how the cards have fallen again.
Her form is outstanding over the 1100-metre trip and while she rises sharply in weight, compared to the 54kg she lugged to victory last start in a benchmark 84 event, the daughter of Wordsmith-Vivre La Nett has carried decent weight before and still emerged triumphant.
Gandy’s filly looks set to be the front-runner and if her rider Siggy Carr can get her own way in front, the six-year-old looms as the likely winner, despite having to carry 60.5kg.
Her stablemate Gee Gee Queenie has been out of form of late and the Team Wells-trained Gee Gee True Story also has been struggling to find his best.
Littler River Boy went around in Hobart on Sunday and finished fifth in a field of seven to Sidorova, beaten almost five lengths and the Alana Fulton-trained Balestrand is having his third start this time in, but should be ready to show up.
Gee Gee Lanett was one of the best two and three-year-olds of her age group and with a record of 10 wins and 20 minor placings from 44 starts for over $250,000 in stakes, she warrants starting favourite.
