THE training partnership of Chris Crook and Imogen Miller has made quite an impact on Tasmania’s thoroughbred training ranks since they teamed up just over six months ago and at UBET Park Hobart today they could end the season on a high.
Today’s meeting comprises the five races that were postponed from Sunday’s meeting that had to be aborted due to gale force winds that made the venue unsafe for racing from a jockeys’ perspective.
Crook and Miller will saddle up four runners over three races on the five-event card.
Ashalar will carry top weight in the opening race, a class one handicap over 1400 metres and Crook is hoping the three-year-old secures more luck that he has at his first two outings this preparation.
Qui Samer will represent the stable in race six, a class two handicap over 1100 metres and his chances have improved with the track rating likely to be no worse than a soft 7.
But their best chance could be the in0-form mare Let It Be Known who is attempting to make it four wins in succession when she tackles the benchmark 72 handicap (1200m) that is the last race on the program.
“If we get any rain then Let It Be Known’s chances will improve dramatically but she is in top form and could handle the steep class rise,” she said.
The team also has Tuesdaynitedelight engaged and while she looks outclassed the mare has a good record third-up and she will be ridden by Kim Moore who has just made a return to race riding after spending several months sidelined with a foot injury.
Today’s meeting boasts a quadrella on races 2, 3, 4 and 5 with the Treble on races 3, 4 and 5 and the daily double is framed on races 4 and 5.
UBET also has provided an Extra Double on races 1 and 2.
Fixed odds wagering also is available on the meeting.
