SHEFFIELD trainer Angela Brakey went close to scratching her lightly raced three-year-old filly Liberty Dance from the opening race at Spreyton today but she is glad she didn’t after the daughter of Statue of Liberty scored an emphatic all-the-way win in a maiden over 1000 metres.
With the in-form Kim Moore in the saddle, Liberty Dance led throughout to a score by over a length from Gee Gee Black Buty with the well-backed Millie Mateba ($3.70) two lengths away third.
Liberty Dance made her debut at Devonport on December 11 when she was a game second to Gee Gee Sun Valley.
Brakey said the filly had produced a growth spurt that almost forced her to miss the race.
