FORMER Victorian mare Loft broke her maiden status with an impressive win in a 3YO and upward maiden over 1350 metres at Tapeta Park Spreyton today.
It was the Daryl Horner-trained mare’s 10th start in Tasmania and her first win from a career tally of 20 outings.
Loft (David Pires) had produced a couple of handy performances but a lack of consistency had given her trainer ore than a few headaches.
But a change of tactics and the right run in the race enabled the five-year-old daughter of Exceed And Excel-Hoosie to rattle home along the rails and score full of running by almost three lengths from Kentucky Reign with Sh’Bourne Tameeka a length astern.
