TOP greyhound trainer Ted Medhurst has had a mixed bag of luck of late with a couple of his high profile kennel tenants falling victim to bad luck in feature races.
But in Launceston last night his luck began to turn with Lorus Time and Local View winning J G Nelson Cup finals.
Lorus Time made the most of box one to lead in the division one final and once on the lure he gave nothing else a chance on his way to an emphatic win.
He hit the line almost five lengths clear of Gemstone Jack with Breaker’s Tip 2-1/2 lengths away third.
Lorus Time was second in his heat to Breaker’s Tip after having no luck from box four but the inside alley gave him the edge and he never gave his backers any cause for alarm.
It was the dog’s eighth win from only 19 starts.
Lorus Time (Magic Sprite-Wongawillilesley) was bred by her owner Debbie Cannan.
Gemstone Jack delivered another honest effort while Breaker’s Tip lost no admirers when he toughed it out after being checked twice in the run.
