FORMER Queensland gelding Tipnroll scored an impressive all-the-way win at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Wednesday night and did enough to suggest he has a future in his adopted state.
Now in the care of astute mentor Steve Lukac, Tipnroll showed only modest form leading up to his maiden triumph but the trainer is confident he can win more races.
With one of the state’s leading reinsmen Nathan Ford aboard, the gelded son of Village Jasper-Speed Mist burst from gate two to find the lead comfortably and then proceeded to reel off decent sectionals to clock a mile rate of 2m.00.8s over the 1609-metre trip and he ran home his last half (800m) in a slick 58.14sec.
He hit the line over six metres clear of Lowood Ice with Prisonbreak almost the same margin away third and just in advance of the luckless Slice Of Lemon.
