HOBBY trainer-driver Craig Sweeney was in two minds about sending his handy mare Reason To Dream to the spelling paddock after she won her first race of the season on Hobart last Sunday week.
But when nominations were extended for a race in Hobart last Sunday night the decision to keep her up for one more run was virtually made for him.
The Hobart club extended nominations for a four-year-old and older race over 2090 metres that suited Reason To Dream so he re-polished the hardware on the harness gear and lobbed last Sunday night for the race.
The mare was backed in to start the $5.60 second favourite behind the long odds-on chance Jessie Maguire from the Rod Plunkett stable.
But Sweeney knew he would have to rely on luck to be a chance from the inside of the second row draw.
“The pace was on from the outset and that certainly helped our chances,” Sweeney said.
Reason To Dream got the run in the home straight and produced her best effort this campaign.
She clocked a mile rate of 1m.59.14 which gave Sweeney plenty to smile about.
