Mackelroy ready to win

30 / 10 / 2012 Article by: Editor

Locally owned and trained greyhound Mackelroy has improved with each of his three runs back from an injury enforced spell and looks the one to beat in the final event (race 10) at Devonport this afternoon.

At his last start he recorded fast early sections only to be caught in the last few metres by the in form All My Life in 25.91.

Today he will jump from box eight and is expected to lead clearly and with the benefit of recent runs should send punters home happy. Tiza Dee, another former Victorian, is a winner in 26.00 and looks the biggest threat.

The Maurie Strickland trained Freedom Fighter is a long way behind his champion Rewind but he looks to have a good each way chance from box eight in the sixth event. A solid second to Miss Hetti at his last Devonport appearance points to him being in the finish at good odds.

There will be no meeting on Melbourne Cup day due to no Sky Channel coverage. Next weeks meeting will be on Wednesday as a twilight fixture and will have Sky 2 coverage.
