A powerfully built colt by Major In Art from the Armbro Aussie mare Seduce was the top-priced yearling to go under the hammer at the 2012 Tasmanian Premier Harness Yearling Sale in Launceston today.
The filly, bred by Lyndon and Gail Menegon of Big Park Stud, was knocked down to Spreyton investor Warren Viney for $9000.
The next highest-priced yearling was lot 33, a filly by Courage Under Fire from Goldleaf Art that was sold for $8000 to prominent Hobart-based harness trainer Christian Salter.
Only 35 lots were offered in the catalogue and only 31 went through the ring.
The aggregate for the sale was $156,300 at an average of $4950 per lot, although many were bought back by the vendors.
Lyndon Menegon said he was happy to have sold three of the five he put through the ring.
