QUALITY four-year-old mare Tap It In delivered a knock-out blow to her rivals in Launceston last night with arguably one of the best performances on the eight-event card.
Tap It In (Savoire Vivre-Titleist) was having only her fourth start but showed all the class and professionalism of a much more seasoned campaigner.
The Charlie Goggin and Luella Meaburn-trained mare settled midfield and when jockey Stephen Maskiell eased her three-wide to make ground nearing the home turn she quickly ran to the leaders and when she collared the leader Swinging Dancer she burst clear and held sway over Coastal Rose and Head Spinner that worked home well from back in the field.
Maskiell was delighted with the effort and predicted a bright future for the four-year-old.
“Charlie (Goggin) liked this mare from the outset when she first trialed, saying he thought she was a natural and he was right,” Maskiell said.
“They have taken their time withy her and she has developed into a very genuine racehorse,” he said.
Tap It In, owned, bred and raced by the Runnymede Stud Syndicate managed by Lindy Goggin, debuted in early March with a solid win at Devonport on the Tapeta synthetic surface and while unplaced at her subsequent outing on the inside grass at Elwick she responded with a game second back at Devonport behind the highly promising Lottie’s Lady.
Coastal Rose made up good ground over the concluding stages and earned a place in the horse’s to follow column and third-placed Head Spinner also is one to etch into the black book.
