Devonport host a dual code race meeting today with greyhound and harness programs on what looms as a terrific afternoon of racing.
Eight greyhound races have been scheduled for decision, getting underway at 15:10.
The opening event sees the Ted Medhurst-trained My Desiree go around at rock bottom odds from box one over 452 metres.
From the outstanding Fernando Bale x Keune litter, My Desiree is a winner at two of her four career starts and resumes today from a three-month stint on the sidelines. While she hasn’t set the world on fire in her career to date, today’s race looks more than within range for the stylishly bred chaser.
As far as betting is concerned, the danger is the Anthony Bullock-trained Tah Matt, the son of Fabregas quoted a $4.40 chance to get the better of the race favourite.
Race six on today’s program, a grade 3/4 event over the 452 metres sees Bridwood Marshal take his place from box one as the red hot $1.80 favourite for Anthony Bullock.
Boasting a terrific Devonport record, the son of Mackie Slater is set for a busy week, taking his place today before lining up in next Tuesday’s Group 3 Devonport Chase Final after annexing his heat earlier this week.
In what promises to be an interesting second leg to the quaddie, Bullock also lines up second favourite Outlaw Teddy from box eight, the four-time Devonport winner responsible for a slick personal best time at the track of 25.53.
The last leg of today’s quaddie sees one of the better bets of the program go around with the Gary Johnson-trained Leprechaun Dance installed at $1.45 to return to the winner’s list.
In the money at five of her seven Devonport starts, a drop in grade should see the well-bred daughter of High Earner land a fourth career win.
