MULTIPLE premiership-winning jockey Brendon McCoull has limited his number of rides at the meeting at Tattersall’s Park tomorrow (Saturday) and one of his best failed to accept.

McCoull was to partner the Barry Campbell-trained Admiral in the $30,000 2YO Autumn Plate but his trainer opted to stay at home because he believes the track could be worse than slow owing to heavy rain in Hobart today (Thursday) and more expected on race day.

However McCoull’s mount Vinder in the $20,000 3YO Autumn Plate over 1100 metres looks a tip winning chance.

Vinder, prepared at Seven Mile Beach by David and Scott Brunton, was very impressive in winning first-up in Hobart on April 13 in a 3YO handicap over 1000 metres with McCoull aboard.

“I was very pleased with Vinder’s first-up win and she took her good trial form into that race so I would expect her to improve further on Saturday,” McCoull said.

Vinder had good form when last in work defeating Carnelian Crystal in a maiden in Hobart and she was then very competitive against some of the best three-year-olds I the state.

She finished third behind Geegees Velvet in a class one in Hobart over 1200 metres before being sent for a lengthy spell.

She meets a small field but it contains a bit of quality including Vinder’s stablemate Vigilante along with Gee Gees Style, Lazy Democracy, recent Launceston winner Miss Elsa and the highly promising Sound Bar from the Adam Trinder stable.
