TOP greyhound trainer Ted Medhurst holds the key to tonight’s Launceston Breeder’s Classic final over 515 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre at Mowbray.
Medhurst has three of the eight finalists and they occupy the three inside boxes which should give one of them a winning edge.
Prescribe has long been considered by Medhurst as potentially the best pup in his kennel and he gets his chance to win a minor feature race from box three.
The son of St Pierre-Wongawilli Wala won his semi-final last week from box six and was dominant in leading al the easy to defeat Winklee Tip by six lengths.
Hey Franklin has the coveted inside alley and he too won his semi-final but he settled second before powering home to defeat race leader Priority Punter that proved that form good by winning in Hobart last Thursday night.
Medhurst’s other finalist is Demi Cali that finished second in her semi-final behind Posh Fire but she has a good record on he Launceston circuit wining three of her seven starts there including the Gold Collar in December last year.
If she happened to find the lead she would take some running down.
Priority Punter has drawn box four and he would have to lead to be any chance of winning and the same applies to Posh Fire from box eight.
The winner will earn for his or her owner prize money of $5000.
