SOME of the most promising young greyhounds in Tasmania will strut their stuff in semi-finals of the Tattsbet Hobart Maiden Thousand over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight.

The fastest heat winner Groovy Lane will start favourite in the first semi-final (race 4) and provided the Ted Medhurst-trained dog can overcome box four he should progress to the final.

Two of the most impressive heat winners last Friday were Topline Power and Arome Peche and they clash in the second semi-final (race 5).

Topline Power has drawn box eight and that should be enough to give him the edge, although from box five Arome Peche only has to mirror his heat performance to be a winning chance as he few the lids last week and led clearly at the top turn.

Top trainer Ted Medhurst prepared seven of the 12 heat winners last Friday night and two of those will clash in the third semi-final in Homeward (box six) and Will Mend (box three).

Very little separated them on time so it might be a case of whichever gets the best of the start that makes it through to the final.

Medhurst also has the two top fancies in the last of the four semi-finals in MysticFalls (box 1) and High Caution (6) with Mystic Falls likely to be the best-backed of the duo.

The first two placegetters in each of the four semi-finals will progress to next week’s final with the two fastest thirds to be named reserves.
