TOP Tasmanian trainer Ted Medhurst  could be excused for taking a few moments to ponder what might have been after the box draw for the National Sprint Championship in Perth that offered the inside alley to the Tasmanian representative.

His kennel star Buckle Up Wes should have owned that box but a leg injury forced him out of the race with the opportunity then given to the Paul Hili-trained Dominator Girl that finished second to Buckle Up Wes in the state final.

But Medhurst set aside his disappointment and focused on the main race in Hobart last Thursday night, the Young Star Classic that produced a great result for the astute mentor.

Medhurst had two finalists in heat winners Star Chamber and Get It Right and they gave Medhurst the quinella.

Get It Right did just that by beginning brilliantly from box six to establish an e5aerly lead and then proceeded to extend her advantage to go on and win comfortably from Star Chamber that was sent out the $2.40 favourite.

Once Get It Right found the fence nearing the top turn she slipped clear while Star Chamber had crossed down wearing the pink vest with Boston Heart emerging from the pack to give chaser to the leaders.

But Get It Right (Cosmic Rumble-Ferly Gain) increased her advantage and went on to score by just over five lengths from kennel mate Star Chamber that hit the line a slender margin ahead of Boston Heart with Buckle Up Tango a distant fourth.

It was Get It Right’s third win from only four tries on the Hobart circuit.

Get It Right, owned and raced by George Christides, was a drifter in the betting getting out to start at $9 on the TOTE and $7 with the corporate bookies.

The daughter of Comic Rumble clocked splits of 5.07 and 11.16 and stopped the clock at 26.01 that was the best of the night.

Star Chamber lost no admirers and he will no doubt go on and win his way through to top grade while Boston Heart also showed enough to suggest he will pay his way for Moorleah trainer Russell Watts.

Boston Heart’s kennel mate Ireland’s Force (Kinloch Brae-Shanlyn Supreme) was heavily backed late in betting to start the second elect at $4 but he was slowly away from the inside box and made up only modest ground on the placegetters in the home straight.
