FORMER New Zealand pacer My Micky Blue Eyes could have a bright future in Tasmania give the ease with which he won a strong C1 or better standing start race over 2200 metres in Launceston tonight.
With top reinsman Ricky Duggan aboard, My Micky Blue Eyes stepped cleanly from his equal back mark of 20 metres and settled comfortably midfield in the one-out line.
Touchwood Teeksta led from the front line while Scruffy Jake trailed the leader with Ciskei facing the breeze.
Ciskei challenged the leader nearing the home turn but Touchwood Testa found when asked for more by his trainer-driver Adrian Duggan but when My Micky Blue Eyes leveled up for the run home he pounced on the leaders and went on to score by over two metres from Touchwood Teeksta with Lilbitachickenfried flashing home along the rail to
grab third a metre away,
It was only the five-year-old gelding’s second start in Australia and followed a first-up third in Hobart behind Bettor Draw a week earlier.
My Micky Blue Eyes is owned by Jamie Cockshutt and Barry Cooper who paid an undisclosed sum for the gelding about six weeks ago.
