MIDNIGHT BIRD looks set to return to return to the winner’s circle when he steps out in the Dowling McCarthy Tyres Grade Five (race 5) over 452 metres at Devonport today.

The Michael Dobson-trained dog has been placed second at his past two starts over 720 metres in Launceston but he possesses enough early speed to be very competitive in what is a major drop in grade.

Midnight Bird has drawn box three and with a reasonably slow beginner on his inside (Pedro’s Vineyard) he should get clear racing rom at the start.

Speed of Rhino has drawn well in box one so must be regarded a top winning chance along with Locknane Bill that comes off a second at his most recent outing against similar opposition at this track last week.
