Ladbrokes Launceston Cup runner-up Mighty Quinn will seek to relish the transition to the staying distance over 600 metres when he competes in the Congratulations Red Stiletto Grade 4/5 in Launceston on Monday night.
The son of Shima Shine and Swift Current was gallant in defeat to Red Stiletto in the Group 2 feature last week, coming home late to register an eye-catching performance, finishing 3-1/4 lengths from the winner.
He takes up box two in the event on Monday night for trainer Mick Stringer looking to secure his 12th career win.
In his 68 lifetime appearances, Mighty Quinn has been over the longer distances earlier in his racing career when being trained in Victoria but should find the quality of his opposition a little easier and will start as the favourite.
His opposition is spread out further in boxes seven and eight, Legal Danger Black Danger, both trained by Allan Clark at Burnie. These competitors are experienced on this track and have each achieved wins at this distance.
Zipping Clooney, trained by Nicole Howard, is well respected in betting market and is upping in distance as well.
There are two interesting first starters making their debut on Monday night, with trainer Paul Hili lining up members of the Koblenz x Cheek Vixen litter. Nitro Ace and Nitro Venom are both half-siblings to Fast Minardi.
