HOBBY harness trainer Clayton Miller heaved a sigh of relief after his promising three-year-old pacer Daytona Demon scored an impressive win in the Art Meeker 3YO over 2090 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday night.

Daytona Demon showed brilliant gate speed from a wide gate (7) to lead and once settled in front by driver John Walters he set an honest pace and had no trouble in holding his rivals at bay over the concluding stages.

He hit the line over seven metres clear of the well-backed Hearthrob with Bymarjac just under a metre away third with the winner clocking a pedestrian mile rate of 2m.04.4s.

The gelding boasts two wins and as many minor placings from his only four starts but Miller says the horse has been difficult to get going.
