QUALITY middle distance galloper Milochello scored arguably the best win of his career in an open handicap over 1660m at Devonport today.
Milochello carried top weight of 60 kilograms on a heavy 10 track but the gelding’s feat was even more impressive given he missed the start by almost three lengths and had to chase early to stay in touch.
But he made light of the task to gather in the leaders in the home straight and once reaching the front he staved off late and determined challenges from minor placegetters Family Trust and Burogino.
“I’ve always said this horse is a star and he really proved it today,” Clifford said.
Milochello has now won 10 from 26 starts with his eight minor placings also contributing to his stake earnings of just over $110,000.
