LIGHTLY raced three-year-old pacer Mister Sumna extended his winning streak to three in succession when he powered his way to an effortless win in a 3C1-C0 over 2090 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight.
Mister Sumna strolled to the lead from gate five after travelling about 300 metres and once in front his trainer-driver Craig Hayes just ensured a modest tempo before releasing the brakes leaving the back straight the last time.
The gelded son of Riverboat King-Gallavance slipped clear of his rivals and strolled to a convincing win over Mighty Boy Coconut and Rhetts Way.
He clocked a mile rate of 2m.02 s and ran home his last half (800m) in a slick 57.67 seconds.
Mister Sumna had four starts last preparation for one minor placing but it wasn’t until connections discovered he had a splint in his hind leg that was preventing him from delivering his best.
