If betting is any indication, Rachael Moate is expected to make quite the impression to begin today’s 10-event Devonport card.

Moate will rug up the race favourites in the opening two events on the card courtesy of littermates Diorite Fire and Tangelo Fire, the offspring of Cosmic Rumble going to the races today in terrific form.

In the opening event – a grade six over the 452 metres – Diorite Fire is currently the hot $1.90 favourite from his box seven draw, going into the race as the winner at two of his three career starts.

The March 2018 whelp makes his Devonport debut today, where his main opposition looms in Hi Sky (box 5) and Fairytale Rock (box 6), each quoted around the $4.50 mark.

Fairytale Rock will be having his fourth local start today after transferring from Victoria last month following a half-length Warrnambool win in slick time.

Trained by Allan Clark, the son of Allen Deed has shown glimpses of talent at his three Tassie appearances, with betting suggesting he’ll make his presence felt today.

In the second event Moate rugs up the second of her chances with Tangelo Fire just holding favouritism in a spirited betting affair.

In the money at six of her seven appearances, Tangelo Fire makes her Devonport debut today from box five, fresh off a dazzling last start 19.51 success over the 340 metres at Hobart.

Runner-up to Amy Cora in the Hobart Maiden Thousand Final four runs back, Tangelo Fire tackles a strong grade six field today at Devonport, with Rachael (box 3) and Savage Victor (box 6) attracting plenty of support in betting.

Savage Victor – from the promising Sh Avatar x See Blue’s Girl litter – finished second last week at Devonport in good style after registering two slick Hobart wins, the most recent of those in a fast 19.46 over the 340 metres.

With today’s Devonport program providing plenty of value, punters have rallied behind grand campaigner Gotta Be You in race four for in-form trainer Anthony Bullock.

The 31-time winner looks well drawn in box eight for this veterans assignment over the 452 metres and with room to move early he looks a great chance of getting home for backers at around the $2.30 mark.
